Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja announced the launch of Indus AI Week 2026, a week-long national initiative to accelerate AI adoption across Pakistan from 9 to 15 February 2026.
Indus AI Week aims to position Pakistan as a country committed to advancing artificial intelligence at national scale by bringing together government, industry, academia, startups and the wider technology ecosystem to enhance awareness, build capacity and promote responsible, practical application of AI across sectors.
Organised by the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication through a public–private partnership, the programme is designed as an open and inclusive platform for AI learning, exploration and participation. Policymakers, technology leaders, enterprises, universities, startup founders, students and the general public from Islamabad and provinces will take part in events and activities under the Indus AI Week banner.
The schedule features a national technology showcase, innovation and startup spotlights connecting founders with investors, skills training and certification opportunities for students and professionals, a gaming and experiential AI arena and interactive public engagement sessions. These elements are intended to demystify AI, broaden access and convert dialogue into hands-on learning, adoption and collaboration.
Shaza Fatima Khawaja highlighted the link to national policy and international engagement and said With the introduction of Pakistan’s National AI Policy last year, we laid the foundation for responsible and inclusive AI development. Indus AI Week reflects our determination to move beyond dialogue toward adoption and to connect policy, industry and talent for meaningful impact.
The week will open with the Indus AI Summit at the Jinnah Convention Center in Islamabad on 9 February, followed by the Innovation, Learning and Engagement Arena at the Islamabad Sports Complex on 9 and 10 February. From 9 to 15 February, universities, companies, public institutions and ecosystem partners across Pakistan will host co-branded activities to extend participation beyond the capital.
With Indus AI Week 2026, Pakistan is signaling readiness to embrace artificial intelligence as a cornerstone of national development, talent growth and international collaboration while creating tangible pathways for startups, students and public institutions to adopt and scale AI solutions.
