Balochistan Polio Campaign Set for February

EOC teams reviewed Balochistan's epidemiology and coordinated support for the February polio campaign to ensure every child is reached.

Ms. Ayesha Raza Farooq, the Prime Ministerโ€™s Focal Person for Polio Eradication, met in Quetta with Muhammad Anwar-ul-Haq, Coordinator of the National Emergency Operations Center, and Inam-ul-Haq, Balochistan EOC Coordinator, alongside the provincial core team to finalise preparations for the February polio campaign. The meeting focused on the current epidemiological situation in Balochistan and the specific support required from the National EOC to ensure smooth and effective operations during the campaign.

The delegation reviewed measures to strengthen field logistics, surveillance and access to hard-to-reach communities, emphasising the need for tight coordination between national and provincial teams. Participants discussed practical steps to maximise coverage and to address areas where children remain vulnerable, keeping the polio campaignโ€™s goals central to planning.

Ms. Ayesha commended the dedication of polio teams and frontline health workers who continue to reach remote communities and urged sustained support from all stakeholders. The meeting concluded with a firm commitment to provide the necessary technical and operational assistance from the National EOC so that the February polio campaign can protect every child in Balochistan.
