Governor Faisal Karim Kundi met Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani at his Islamabad residence on 28 January 2026 to brief him on the security and governance situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the merged districts.
The two leaders discussed law and order, good governance and the overall condition of the province, with particular attention on the humanitarian response in the Tirah area following severe winter conditions.
The governor informed the Acting President about the ongoing Tirah evacuation and the measures taken to assist families temporarily moved from the valley. The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) merged districts branch in Tirah has been actively delivering food, medicines and other essential aid to people stranded by heavy snowfall.
In Tehsil Bara, relief supplies were distributed today among evacuees from Tirah, and Governor Kundi assured those affected of full government cooperation and continued support while emergency assistance and temporary arrangements are maintained.
Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani expressed sympathy for the displaced families and paid tribute to the sacrifices of the people of Khyber and the merged districts for the country. He commended the bravery of the province’s residents in the fight against terrorism and underlined that sustainable peace is essential for development and prosperity.
Both leaders agreed that the development and welfare of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the merged districts remain a national priority, and reiterated that coordination for the ongoing Tirah evacuation and subsequent relief and rehabilitation will continue until affected communities are restored.
