450 PMAS-AAUR students received laptops under the Youth Laptop Scheme to boost digital literacy and research in Rawalpindi.

Under the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme, a grand Laptop Distribution Ceremony was held at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) on Thursday, January 29, 2026. The event was organized by the Directorate of Financial Assistance & University Advancement of the university. Honorable Federal Minister for Railways Mr. Muhammad Hanif Abbasi graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest, while Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman, Vice Chancellor PMAS-AAUR extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests, faculty members, and students. The event was attended by Deans, Directors, faculty members, and a large number of students, creating an atmosphere of celebration and motivation.

While addressing, the Honorable Chief Guest, Federal Minister for Railways Mr. Muhammad Hanif Abbasi emphasized that Digital Pakistan is our vision, and performance is our commitment. He stated that the Government believes in result-oriented initiatives that empower the youth and lead Pakistan toward sustainable development.

He also highlighted that the Government of Pakistan is giving special attention to the education sector, acknowledging it as the foundation of national progress. He said it is the collective responsibility of society to support students in acquiring quality education and achieving excellence. He further elaborated that the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme is a hallmark of transparency and meritocracy. Every deserving student who fulfills the eligibility criteria receives a laptop purely on merit. This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide, promote e-learning, and equip talented youth with modern technological tools to strengthen research, innovation, and productivity in higher education institutions.

Congratulating the students who received laptops, the Federal Minister encouraged them to work hard, stay focused, and continue striving for academic excellence. He urged the youth to respect their teachers, noting that their guidance and prayers play a vital role in shaping successful futures.

In his address, Vice Chancellor PMAS-AAUR Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman warmly welcomed the Chief Guest and expressed heartfelt gratitude for his continued support toward educational advancement. He congratulated all the students who qualified to receive laptops and appreciated the Government for initiating and sustaining such a visionary program. He said that the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme is a highly beneficial initiative that supports students, strengthens digital literacy, and promotes quality education. He stated that in today’s digital era, a laptop is not a luxury but a necessity for effective learning, research, and academic excellence. He praised the Government’s commitment to youth empowerment through education and technology.

He also acknowledged Mr. Muhammad Hanif Abbasi as a steadfast supporter and a true friend of the university, recognizing his continuous efforts to uplift higher education institutions in Rawalpindi and beyond.

Highlighting the university’s achievements, the Vice Chancellor stated that since the inception of the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme, more than 15,000 students of PMAS-AAUR have benefited from the program. He further mentioned that today, 450 laptops are being distributed among students. These laptops, he added, have greatly enhanced the academic and research capabilities of students, empowering them to contribute more effectively to the nation’s development.

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of laptops among students, who expressed their gratitude to the Prime Minister, the Government of Pakistan, and the university administration for their unwavering support toward education and digital empowerment.
