Fatima Jinnah Women University joined HEC and British Council to finalise REF Pakistan, enhancing research assessment and societal impact across campuses.

Fatima Jinnah Women University was represented at the consultative process convened by the Higher Education Commission in partnership with the British Council to finalise the Research Excellence Framework for Pakistan. Prof Dr Bushra Mirza, Vice Chancellor, attended the session as part of a national effort to sharpen research evaluation practices.

Planned as a pilot in ten selected universities before a nationwide rollout, the REF Pakistan aims to refine research assessment models with a clear emphasis on research outputs and demonstrable societal impact. The initiative, launched under the Pak–UK Education Gateway, is designed to maximise the value and public return from publicly funded research across Pakistani universities.

The university reiterated its commitment to promoting research excellence, supporting policy-relevant scholarship and expanding international academic engagement as Pakistan adopts the REF Pakistan model. Participation in the consultative process positions the institution to contribute to and benefit from improved standards in research assessment and impact measurement.
