The draws for the Davis Cup World Group II tie have been confirmed, with Pakistan set to meet Senegal in Islamabad in a tie that includes singles and doubles matches. Local fans can expect competitive tennis as both teams finalise their preparations.

The Senegalese squad has arrived in Islamabad and trained alongside the Pakistani players in intensive practice sessions, giving both sides valuable time to acclimatise to the conditions. Team interactions during practice have raised expectations of a closely fought encounter on home soil.

Singles play is scheduled for 6th February with the first match starting at 10:30am when Muzammil Murtaza of Pakistan faces Nicolas John of Senegal. The opening singles will be followed by Aqeel Khan against Seydina Andre, and the tie will also feature doubles rubbers to decide the overall result.

Senegal captain Bedi Dieng said Pakistan will be a tough opponent and acknowledged the challenge of playing away, noting the Senegalese side is largely composed of young players with limited grass-court experience. He added that the team has been assessing Islamabad’s conditions for two days and praised local hospitality, while emphasising the objective of improving Senegal Tennis Team’s global ranking.

He stressed Pakistan’s determination to win the Group II tie and highlighted the home advantage on grass courts, adding that he intends to use his experience to mentor younger team members and help secure victory for the host nation.
