On the directions of the Commissioner Rawalpindi and Rawalpindi Development Authority Director General Engineer Aamer Khattak, a high-level meeting was held to address long standing shop disputes involving properties on RDA land currently under Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi possession. The session brought together senior officers from RDA, MCR and WASA to examine ownership, possession and record discrepancies affecting these commercial sites.
Syed Nazarat Ali, Director Development and Finance, chaired the meeting and instructed all departments to work constructively under the approved Terms of Reference. Participants discussed technical and administrative aspects of ownership claims, agreed to prioritise verified data, and outlined steps to submit practical suggestions and corrected records to reach an amicable and lawful resolution of the shop disputes.
Officials emphasised the need for timely interdepartmental coordination and the exchange of authentic information to prevent further delay. A consensus emerged to streamline land records and establish a clear mechanism for future coordination so similar disputes do not recur and public assets are managed transparently and legally.
The meeting resolved that a joint review of available documentation would be carried out by RDA, MCR and WASA to reconcile discrepancies related to ownership and possession. Relevant records will be verified and updated in consultation with WASA to ensure accuracy, compliance with applicable laws and smooth implementation of mutually agreed decisions in the public interest.
