Haroon Akhtar Khan inaugurated the Artificial Intelligence facility at the Pakistan Industrial and Technical Assistance Centre in Lahore, marking a key step in expanding technical training for Pakistani youth. The new AI Center will operate alongside an Electric Vehicle bikes facility and a Podcast Center established at PITAC under the direction of the federal leadership.
Drawing on the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Mr Haroon Akhtar Khan emphasized that equipping young people with skills in artificial intelligence is essential for Pakistan to keep pace with global progress. He stressed that acquiring expertise at the AI Center is now the need of the hour and vital for sustained economic growth.
Mr Haroon Akhtar Khan praised PITAC’s performance and announced plans to invite qualified trainers from abroad to ensure high quality instruction at the AI Center. He underlined that international-standard training will support startups, entrepreneurship, and innovation driven by Pakistan’s youth.
Highlighting the broader technology agenda, he noted that the establishment of the AI Center, the EV facility, and the Podcast Center reflects a commitment to modern technical skills and national competitiveness. He expressed determination to elevate PITAC to international standards and congratulated the management and staff on the successful launch of these facilities.
The initiative is intended to prepare the next generation for rapid technological change, strengthen local capacity in artificial intelligence, and create pathways for young Pakistanis to build businesses and contribute to the country’s economic advancement.
