In Islamabad, 390 students of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology were presented with laptops under the Prime Minister Laptop Scheme at a ceremony held on Tuesday, a step aimed at strengthening digital learning and research capabilities.
Minister of State for Education and Professional Training Wajiha Qamar attended as chief guest and, together with Vice Chancellor Dr Zabta Khan Shinwari, distributed the devices to the students. The distribution of FUUAST laptops is part of a wider effort to connect Pakistan’s youth with modern technology and global knowledge resources.
Addressing attendees, Wajiha Qamar said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision is to transform the future of the country’s youth by linking them to the world through technology, enabling students to access learning opportunities without leaving home. She praised the progress of the Federal Urdu University and highlighted its important role in promoting higher education and research.
Wajiha Qamar also announced that the government would soon provide a bailout package to support the university’s development and to address ongoing financial challenges, underlining the administration’s commitment to sustaining higher education institutions.
Vice Chancellor Dr Zabta Khan Shinwari said the university remains committed to education and research in Urdu and is contributing significantly to national development. He expressed gratitude to the government and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for equipping students with tools that will enhance academic and research output, and he urged recipients to use the FUUAST laptops responsibly for study and research.
Campus Incharge Dr Saba Bashir congratulated the students who received laptops under the scheme and encouraged them to dedicate their skills and learning to serve Pakistan’s development goals.
