During Ramadan the Zakat Foundation organized special Iftar meals across Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Kotli in Azad Kashmir, Khanewal, Muzaffargarh, Multan, Pattoki, Toba Tek Singh and Mansehra to support those observing the fast and nearby vulnerable residents.
At each site Iftar meals were respectfully served to patients’ attendants and underprivileged individuals from surrounding areas, with efforts focused on preserving dignity and offering timely assistance to those in need.
A large number of young volunteers from universities across the country took part in preparing and distributing the meals. Volunteers described how participation deepened their sense of service; one said the experience changed his outlook, noting that the happiness of easing another’s hardship fosters humility and gratitude.
Organizers explained that the purpose of the initiative is not only to provide Iftar meals but also to promote compassion and mutual cooperation within society. Members of civil society welcomed the drive, saying such activities reinforce values of brotherhood and mutual respect among communities.
There was a clear call from participants and observers for similar relief efforts to continue beyond Ramadan so that the practice of service and the preservation of dignity become a sustained commitment for future generations.
