On 27 February 2026 an agreement was signed in Lahore between TİKA and the Directorate General of Archaeology, Punjab to restore Javed Manzil, the house where Allama Muhammad Iqbal lived and spent his final years. The signing marks a formal commitment to conserve a site of deep cultural and historical significance for Pakistan.

The project will strengthen and improve the historic home so it can serve future generations as a modern museum, safeguarding artifacts and memories linked to Allama Iqbal’s life and thought. Work will focus on preserving the building’s integrity while upgrading facilities to welcome scholars, students and visitors from across the country.

The restoration underscores the growing partnership between Türkiye and Pakistan, translating diplomatic warmth into concrete cultural cooperation. Officials described the effort as a meaningful step that connects heritage preservation with wider people-to-people ties between the two nations.
