An aerial photograph captures Mial Dam in Chakwal, illustrating the network of small dams across the Potohar plateau. The Punjab Irrigation Department maintains more than 60 of these reservoirs that collect rainwater runoff for irrigation and to supply drinking water to local communities.
These small dams play a practical role in supporting agriculture and improving water availability during dry periods. The Mial Dam view highlights how harvested runoff is used to sustain cropping cycles and provide potable water for residents of Chakwal and neighbouring areas. Additional small dam projects are currently under construction and several others remain in the planning stage as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen regional water security.
