GC Women University and SIMAP advance academia industry collaboration to expand internships, skills and employability ahead of Technology & Innovation Summit 2026.

A delegation from the Technology & Innovation Summit of the Surgical Instruments Manufacturers Association of Pakistan visited GC Women University Sialkot to discuss deeper collaboration between academia and the business sector. The team was led by Salman Awan, accompanied by Naeem Afzal and Sabour Ahmed, under the supervision of Suleman Ali Mughal.

University leadership, including Vice Chancellor Dr. Shazia Bashir, met with the SIMAP delegation alongside senior faculty and administrative officials to map out practical steps for academia industry cooperation. Conversations centered on creating meaningful opportunities for students through closer ties with manufacturers and service providers based in Sialkot.

Both sides stressed the importance of expanding internships, industry linkages and joint initiatives that give students hands-on exposure. Emphasis was placed on skill development, vocational training and projects that improve student employability while aligning curricula with real-world industry needs.

The delegation formally invited GC Women University to participate in the Technology & Innovation Summit 2026, scheduled for April 22, 2026 at Cantt View Marquee, Sialkot, offering a platform for students and faculty to engage directly with industry stakeholders. The invitation underlines the role of such events in strengthening academia industry networks across the region.

University officials expressed optimism about building long-term partnerships with the surgical instruments sector and broader business community to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements. The initiative is expected to empower students with applied experience and innovative opportunities that support their professional growth within Pakistan’s manufacturing hubs.
