Remembering Bhutto legacy on his martyrdom anniversary as leaders recall his consensus constitution and nuclear foundations that strengthened Pakistan's defense.

On the anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s execution on 4 April 1979, party leaders and workers recalled his enduring influence on Pakistan’s political and strategic trajectory. Aamir Siddiqui told participants that despite the injustice that ended Bhutto’s life, his mission and the party he built remained intact through the steady resolve of Pakistan Peoples Party workers.

Siddiqui emphasized that the Bhutto legacy includes giving the country a consensus constitution that enshrined key national principles, and that his political life reflected an unwavering bond with the masses. According to Siddiqui, Bhutto bridged divides of religion, caste, ethnicity and class to create a national movement grounded in popular power and democratic progress.

The role Bhutto played in laying the foundations of Pakistan’s strategic capabilities was also highlighted. Leaders credited him with initiating the nuclear technology programme and advancing missile capability, steps that they said strengthened the nation’s defence. Siddiqui argued that these achievements, alongside industrial and agricultural milestones from Bhutto’s era, marked lasting progress for the country.

Reiterating that Pakistan Peoples Party remains the voice of the poor and a symbol of the federation, Siddiqui called on workers to set aside differences and support Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto to carry the mission forward. He maintained that the PPP’s roots across the four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir make it uniquely placed to address public concerns and guide the nation toward development.

Reflecting on the Bhutto legacy, Siddiqui urged activists to commit to completing the leader’s unfinished goals by working for social justice, political stability and national strength. He said Bhutto’s ideals could not be extinguished by his death and that the party would continue to champion the rights of the marginalized while steering Pakistan toward progress.
