The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association has strongly reacted to the recent fuel price hike, urging the government to reverse the decision to relieve mounting pressure on dealers across the country.
Abdul Samie Khan, chairman of the association, said the policy change has created severe financial strain for petrol pump owners from Karachi to Gilgit and is making it increasingly difficult for them to keep operations running.
He warned that, unless the decision is withdrawn, dealers may be forced to close petrol pumps, a move that could lead to an acute fuel shortage nationwide. Following the fuel price hike, he said dealers are no longer willing to absorb the economic burden or be treated as scapegoats for policy decisions.
Abdul Samie Khan urged the government to review its policies and engage with dealer representatives to find immediate corrective measures to avoid disruption and protect the supply chain.
Mian Maqsood Ahmad Rehan, President of the Petrol Pump Association Depalpur, expressed full support for the dealers’ stance and called on authorities to act swiftly to address the issue and prevent any nationwide shutdown.
Dealers say prompt relief and constructive dialogue are needed to sustain businesses and avert interruptions that would affect consumers and transport across Pakistan.
