Punjab reports over 22 million tonnes of wheat; new digital dashboard and legal measures to strengthen wheat supply and food security.

Punjab has recorded a remarkable wheat crop this year, with official figures showing more than 22 million metric tons produced provincewide, ensuring ample availability for consumers and markets. The strong harvest has eased near-term concerns over wheat supply.

The Chief Minister said Alhamdulillah wheat is available in ample quantity across Punjab and announced a live digital dashboard to track every grain. The dashboard will provide real-time transparency in demand, supply, stock monitoring and price control, and will be central to daily assessment of wheat supply across districts.

A legal framework was approved to allow licensed aggregators and stockists to store wheat if they officially declare their inventories. Authorities set a two-week deadline for stock declaration and warned that failure to comply will invite strict action under the Anti-Hoarding Act. Incentives will be offered to aggregators who declare stocks honestly, the government said.

In a high-level meeting on agriculture, wheat supply, food safety and consumer protection the Chief Minister directed departments to stabilise wheat prices and ensure affordable flour for the public. She also ordered a comprehensive overhaul of the Food Department to align operations with modern governance standards.

Officials stressed that every grain of wheat will be protected and that the combination of legal measures and the new digital monitoring system will support fair pricing of bread and flour while strengthening provincial food security and long-term wheat supply resilience.
