Mohsin Nawaz has dedicated his Tamgha-e-Imtiaz to the Patron-in-Chief of the Pakistan Long Range Rifle Association, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, praising the leadership and facilitation that helped build shooting infrastructure across the country. He said the national honour reflects collective effort and institutional backing rather than a solitary achievement.
Nawaz credited sustained support from state institutions and government recognition for bringing long-range shooting into a formal sporting framework. He specifically acknowledged the role of the Cabinet Division and the Pakistan Sports Board in legitimising the sport and creating pathways for athletes to compete under Pakistan’s flag on the international stage.
Under the new structure, the Pakistan Long Range Rifle Association secured affiliation with the International Confederation of Fullbore Rifle Associations (ICFRA), a milestone that Nawaz says opens clear routes for Pakistani shooters to enter global competitions. The affiliation marks the first time Pakistan has formal representation in long-range rifle shooting at this level, improving access and development opportunities for emerging talent.
Nawaz, a decorated marksman with 10 individual international medals, has represented Pakistan in competitions in the United Kingdom, the United States and South Africa. Having trained under the 2023 World Champion, he emphasised how the sport demands intense mental focus, discipline and long hours of specialised practice to reach the highest standards.
He also highlighted the positive influence of collaboration with institutions such as the Pakistan Army, noting that a culture of discipline and precision can help produce elite international shooters. Nawaz expressed a strong commitment to mentoring young athletes and sharing the knowledge he has gained over more than two decades of competition.
Describing the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz as a responsibility to give back, Nawaz said Pakistan now stands at the start of a new chapter for shooting sports. With continued institutional investment, strategic planning and confidence in local talent, he believes Pakistan can develop into a competitive force in international long-range shooting.
