Dr. Shahida Rehmani, MNA and Secretary of the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus, paid tribute to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto on her 73rd birth anniversary, describing her as a visionary leader whose political journey reshaped Pakistan’s democratic discourse and expanded space for women in public life.

Speaking on the occasion, she said the Benazir Bhutto tribute reflected the lasting respect Pakistan continues to hold for a leader remembered for courage, resilience and her unwavering commitment to democratic principles. As the first woman Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Muslim world, Benazir Bhutto broke long-standing barriers and opened new avenues for women’s participation in politics.

Dr. Shahida Rehmani noted that Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto stood not only as a political icon but also as a source of hope for women across the country. Her struggle for democracy, human rights and social justice, she said, continues to inspire those who believe in an inclusive and forward-looking Pakistan.

She further highlighted that Benazir Bhutto championed efforts aimed at improving education, healthcare and economic opportunities, particularly for women and marginalized communities. According to her, these contributions remain part of Pakistan’s broader democratic and social development narrative.

The Women’s Parliamentary Caucus, Dr. Shahida Rehmani added, remains committed to carrying forward Benazir Bhutto’s vision of a tolerant, democratic and equitable society where women can contribute fully to national progress. She urged the younger generation, especially young women, to draw strength from Benazir Bhutto’s determination, leadership and dedication to public service.
