ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture paid an official visit to the office of Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Mr Niaz Ahmed Akhtar, where the two sides held a comprehensive meeting to discuss expanding cooperation in education, culture and research.
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration for the promotion and preservation of Pakistan’s rich cultural and linguistic heritage. Both sides underscored the importance of safeguarding national languages, encouraging academic research on cultural diversity and integrating cultural awareness into higher education.
The minister highlighted the government’s commitment to preserving Pakistan’s historical, literary and linguistic traditions through close coordination with educational institutions. He said universities had a vital role in documenting, researching and promoting the country’s cultural heritage for future generations.
HEC Chairman Mr Niaz Ahmed Akhtar reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing research, innovation and academic partnerships in the fields of culture, heritage and languages. He expressed HEC’s willingness to work closely with the ministry to develop joint programmes, research projects and capacity-building initiatives.
The meeting also explored ways to strengthen institutional linkages between universities and cultural and linguistic organisations across Pakistan. Both sides agreed that greater cooperation would contribute to preserving the country’s diverse cultural identity while promoting quality education and research.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to launching collaborative initiatives that would foster cultural preservation, academic excellence and sustainable development in Pakistan’s higher education sector.
