RAWALPINDI: Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH) General Secretary Sana Ullah Ghumman has felicitated the people of Pakistan on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day, urging citizens to work together for a healthy and strong Pakistan.
In his message issued on August 13, Mr Ghumman said Independence Day was not only an occasion to remember freedom and the sacrifices of national heroes, but also a reminder to safeguard and strengthen the Pakistan entrusted to the nation by them.
He said it was essential for the nation to be healthy, both mentally and physically, to achieve this goal. He added that since 1984, PANAH had been continuously working to improve public health and well-being through awareness and the promotion of healthy policies and lifestyles.
Mr Ghumman said the strength of any nation lay in the health of its people. “Only a healthy nation can build a strong country and a strong economy, educate its children, protect its families and play an effective role in the development of the country,” he said.
He urged citizens to make a healthy lifestyle an integral part of their daily routine by adopting a balanced diet, reducing the consumption of products high in sugar, salt and unhealthy fats, avoiding tobacco, making physical activity a regular habit, and taking informed decisions about food choices.
“On this Independence Day, we should pledge that just as we value the freedom and future of our country, we will also protect our health. A healthy Pakistan is the foundation of a prosperous Pakistan,” Mr Ghumman said.
He also prayed for the progress, peace, prosperity and good health of the people of Pakistan, and expressed the hope that the nation would continue to move forward with unity, responsibility and a commitment to a healthy future.
