Zahid Bakhtawari said national unity, rule of law and economic stability are essential to safeguard freedom.

RAWALPINDI: Zahid Bakhtawari, Vice President of the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board, has said that August 14 reminds the nation of the sacrifices rendered during the Pakistan Movement and the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

In his Independence Day message, Zahid Bakhtawari said that safeguarding freedom required national unity, respect for the Constitution and law, institutional stability, political tolerance and economic strength.

He stressed the need to prioritise national interests over personal and group interests and to promote trust between citizens and state institutions.

Zahid Bakhtawari said that a strong economy, growth of business and industry, investment, employment opportunities and support for the business community were essential for Pakistan’s progress.

He also called for greater focus on education, healthcare, technology and youth skills.

Urging citizens to demonstrate patriotism through cleanliness, civic discipline, environmental protection and compliance with laws, he said Pakistan’s sovereignty, security and freedom must never be compromised.

“Pakistan is our identity and the future of our generations. Every citizen must play a role in its development, stability and prosperity,” he said.
