The Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) marked Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with a ceremony paying tribute to the vision, leadership and courage of the founding fathers, and honouring the country’s rich history, indomitable spirit and unshakeable resolve.
The programme was attended by the Institute’s senior management, research faculty, staff and interns.
A key highlight of the event was a special programme prepared by ISSI’s research interns, featuring short documentaries on Pakistan’s history, the struggle and sacrifices of elders for an independent homeland, and the country’s cultural diversity enriched by different faiths, ethnicities and languages.
The presentations portrayed the patriotism, resilience, hospitality and commitment to nation-building of the people of Pakistan.
In his remarks, ISSI Director General Ambassador Moin ul Haque reflected on Pakistan’s journey and its achievements over the past seven decades. He said Pakistan was a blessed country and that its strength lay in its people.
He emphasised the need to strive for excellence and personal and professional growth through discipline, a sense of responsibility, honesty and integrity, describing these as essential pillars of nation-building.
Dr Talat Shabir, Director Administration, said Quaid’s principles of “Unity, Faith and Discipline” remained central to Pakistan’s national identity. He urged the youth to introspect, uphold these principles and work collectively for a stronger, prosperous and resilient Pakistan.
On the occasion, staff members who had completed more than two decades of service at ISSI were honoured in recognition of their longstanding dedication, valuable contributions and commitment to the Institute.
The event concluded with a special cake-cutting ceremony.
