Capital Hospital nursing representatives felicitated Professor Dr Muhammad Naeem Taj on his nomination for the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.

ISLAMABAD: Office-bearers of the Capital Hospital Nursing Association and the Pakistan Nursing Federation, Registered Geneva, on Wednesday felicitated Professor Dr Muhammad Naeem Taj, Executive Director of Capital Hospital, CDA, on his nomination for the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan.

Dr Taj, who is also a Guinness World Record holder, was presented bouquets by representatives of the nursing bodies during a ceremony held at Capital Hospital. A cake was also cut to mark the occasion.

The ceremony was attended by Capital Hospital Nursing Superintendent Madam Tanveer, Pakistan Nursing Federation General Secretary Shabir Tanoli, Nursing Association office-bearers Philip Somroo, Abdul Aziz, Farooq Laghari, Abdul Rauf, Farzana Malik and Zumurrad, along with other office-bearers, nurses and paramedical staff.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Taj said he would continue to work tirelessly for the development and improvement of Capital Hospital and for ensuring the best possible medical facilities for patients.

He said efforts would also be made to highlight at the national level the services of the hospital’s nurses and other employees so that deserving and talented staff members could also be nominated for national awards.

Dr Taj described nurses as the backbone and a valuable asset of Capital Hospital, saying they had served patients with dedication, sincerity and a strong spirit of service for several decades, including 20, 30 and even 35 years.

He assured the nursing staff that every possible effort would be made to address their legitimate concerns and protect their rights.

During the ceremony, the nursing staff also raised the issue of the Draft Seniority List of nurses, which they said had been pending for the last four years.

The nurses said that under the applicable rules concerning the seniority of government employees, the draft seniority list should be issued and finalised in a timely manner. They said the pending list with HRD had caused delays and adversely affected promotions and other service matters.

Dr Taj assured the nurses that he would take up the matter with the relevant authorities, including the Member Administration, and make every possible effort to resolve the issue at the earliest.

He said all possible steps would be taken to ensure that nurses received their legitimate and lawful rights.

The office-bearers of the Capital Hospital Nursing Association and the Pakistan Nursing Federation congratulated Dr Taj on his selection for the national honour and expressed the hope that, under his leadership, Capital Hospital would continue to progress and quality medical and nursing services for patients would become more effective.
