Uzbekistan condemns attempted UAV attack towards Mecca

Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attempted UAV attack directed towards the holy city of Mecca.

ISLAMABAD: The government of the Republic of Uzbekistan has strongly condemned the attempted attack involving an unmanned aerial vehicle directed towards the holy city of Mecca in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In a statement issued in Tashkent, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Uzbekistan made it clear that any actions posing a threat to holy sites, civilians and civilian infrastructure are unacceptable.

“We call on all sides to exercise maximum restraint, strictly comply with the norms of international law, and respect the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of states,” the statement said.

The ministry also said Uzbekistan supported efforts aimed at reducing tensions, preventing further spread of the conflict, and ensuring peace, security and stability in the region.
