Pakistan, through the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), participated in the 44th annual meeting of the World Health Organisation Programme for International Drug Monitoring (WHO PIDM) held in Costa Rica.
Pakistan is a member state of the WHO PIDM. Dr Akhtar Abbas Khan, PhD, Director Pharmacy Services, DRAP, represented Pakistan at the meeting.
Dr Khan also moderated a session titled “Communication as a Risk Minimization Tool”. The session provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and perspectives on the role of effective communication in strengthening pharmacovigilance and protecting patient safety.
According to DRAP, the authority remains committed to strengthening the safety of medicines and vaccines in Pakistan through effective, timely and evidence-based risk communication.
DRAP also pledged to engage all relevant stakeholders and promote the adoption of the WHO Pharmacovigilance SMART Strategy to further strengthen medicine safety.
The participation highlighted Pakistan’s focus on patient safety through stronger pharmacovigilance and effective communication.
