RAWALPINDI: Social leader and President of Taraqqi Pasand Welfare Organisation Muhammad Aamir Siddiqui has said that sharing the grief of others and spreading smiles, even for a few moments, is no less than worship in the present era of stress and anxiety.

In his message on the International Day of Smile, being observed across the world, he said the purpose of the day was to share the pain of people surrounded by worries and sorrows. He said happiness and smiles increase when they are shared.

“What could be a better deed than your smile becoming a source of courage for someone and helping them forget their grief,” Aamir Siddiqui said.

He said the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) had a disposition that brought comfort to hearts, while a smile brought peace to souls. He said no good deed should be considered insignificant, even if it was meeting a Muslim brother with a cheerful face.

Aamir Siddiqui said a smile enhances the beauty of the face, adding that everyone wishes to live happily and, for that, it is necessary and virtuous to keep a smile on one’s face.

He said the day also demanded an end to what he termed terrorism, brutality and genocide against oppressed Muslims in Gaza, Palestine and Kashmir. He said raising a voice for the oppressed people of Gaza and ensuring their protection, food, medicines, medical treatment and facilities was essential.

He strongly condemned Israeli attacks and brutality against aid workers, saying peace-loving people would have to move towards stopping the genocide of Palestinians and achieving lasting peace.

Aamir Siddiqui said the war involving the United States, Israel and Iran had shaken the global economy. He said that because of the Iran war, rising prices of petroleum products, electricity, gas, LPG and food items in Pakistan had pushed the people into a tsunami of inflation.

He said that under these circumstances, far from smiling, it had become difficult for people to live peacefully. He urged the rulers to move towards providing relief to the people and putting the country on the path of progress and prosperity.
