ISLAMABAD: Mr Halil Demir, Chief Executive Officer of Zakat Foundation of America (ZFA), is visiting Pakistan for high-level meetings with United Nations agencies, diplomatic missions, government departments and federal ministries to explore strategic cooperation in humanitarian and development work.
The visit is aimed at strengthening partnerships, mobilising resources and advancing sustainable humanitarian development across the country. Mr Demir is meeting key stakeholders to discuss joint initiatives in education, clean water access, orphan care, emergency relief, food security, youth empowerment and digital skills development.
These areas, according to officials familiar with the engagements, represent some of the pressing needs of vulnerable communities in Pakistan, where recurring natural disasters, economic pressures and limited access to basic services continue to affect millions of people.
The meetings are intended to reinforce institutional partnerships and attract greater local and international support for humanitarian and development programmes. ZFA seeks to work with government bodies, international organisations and diplomatic partners to expand the reach of its initiatives, improve coordination and ensure that assistance is delivered effectively and transparently to those most in need.
Officials noted that cooperation among humanitarian organisations, public institutions and the international community is essential for building lasting solutions. Such partnerships, they said, can help avoid duplication of effort, ensure better use of limited resources and sustain relief and development work beyond the immediate emergency phase.
The discussions are expected to cover both immediate relief requirements and long-term development goals. Priority areas include improving access to quality education for children, providing safe drinking water to underserved communities, supporting orphans and their families, ensuring food security for at-risk households and equipping young people with digital skills to improve their prospects in a changing job market.
Through the visit, Zakat Foundation of America has reaffirmed its commitment to serving vulnerable communities with dignity, building strategic partnerships and promoting sustainable solutions to Pakistan’s humanitarian and social challenges. The organisation has stated that it will continue to work with national and international partners to create meaningful and lasting impact for the people of Pakistan.
