A large number of people attended the ceremony, including senior PPP leader Yad Mir Khan, Sardar Zahid, Raja Awais, Raja Masood, Raja Jahanzeb, Adil Mahmood, Malik Muhammad Khan, Afzal Khan, Raja Arslan, Ali Abbas, Jamaluddin, Nasir Khan, Afaq Hussain Shah, Raja Azam, Manzoor Awan, Tufail Ahmed, Malik Uzair, Raja Khalid and Raja Abid.

Addressing the ceremony, Raja Bilal Sherbaz, General Secretary PPP Tehsil Rawalpindi and Secretary Information and Broadcasting Tehsil Rawalpindi, and Basharat Bhatti said that on October 18, 2007, more than 175 political workers were martyred and hundreds were injured in suicide attacks on the reception procession of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto in the Karsaz area of Karachi.

They said these were the brave workers who offered their lives while protecting their leader. Their sacrifices, they added, were an example of loyalty, courage and unwavering commitment to democracy, which history could never forget.

Paying tribute to the martyrs of the Karsaz tragedy, they said PPP workers sacrificed their lives without caring for themselves to protect their leader and the democratic struggle. The history written with their blood reminds everyone that the journey of democracy is marked by countless sacrifices.

At the end of the ceremony, special prayers were offered for the departed souls of the martyrs.
