Islamabad: The Department of Endocrinology at CDA Hospital, Islamabad, in collaboration with the Pakistan Endocrine Society (PES), organised a Pituitary and Menopause Awareness Symposium 2026 to highlight endocrine disorders and women’s health.
The symposium was held under the supervision of Dr Muhammad Naeem Taj, Executive Director, CDA Hospital, while Dr Sarwar Malik served as the Organising Chair.
The scientific session featured three presentations on key endocrine and women’s health issues. Dr Hina Sittar spoke on growth hormone deficiency, while Dr Sarwar Malik delivered a presentation on hyperprolactinemia, covering clinical evaluation and a case discussion. Dr Fareeha Waqar discussed the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis during the menopausal transition.
A multidisciplinary panel of experts attended the symposium, including Dr Sheeba Noreen, Dr Attiya Naveed, Dr Aziz-un-Nisa, Dr Uzma Ali, Head of Dermatology, Dr Mahrukh Zahoor, Cardiac Surgeon, Dr Hadia Aziz, Dr Sarfaraz Khan and other endocrinologists. The programme was moderated by Dr Maryam Imtiaz, Fellow in Endocrinology.
Healthcare professionals from Endocrinology, Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Surgery, Medicine and Dermatology participated in the event. Nursing staff and medical interns also took part, reflecting the importance of teamwork, professional education and collaborative patient care.
Speakers highlighted that pituitary disorders can affect growth, fertility, menstrual cycles and other hormonal functions. They stressed that early recognition and proper evaluation are important for timely diagnosis and treatment.
Experts also noted that menopause is a natural life transition and not a disease. They said hormonal changes during menopause may affect sleep, mood, skin, bone health and cardiovascular health. Awareness, healthy lifestyle choices and individualised medical care can help women maintain their well-being.
The symposium reaffirmed CDA Hospital’s commitment to medical education, evidence-based practice and improved awareness of endocrine disorders. The organisers appreciated the leadership, organising team, speakers, panelists, participating departments, nursing staff, medical interns and all attendees for contributing to the success of the educational initiative.
