RAWALPINDI: Kashmiris living on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world are observing Jammu Martyrs’ Day today with a renewed pledge to continue the mission of the martyrs at all costs until the achievement of the right to self-determination.
In a statement, Pakistan Peoples Party leader and President of Taraqqi Pasand Falahai Tanzeem, Muhammad Aamir Siddiqui, paid rich tribute to the martyrs of Jammu and said the sacred blood of Kashmiris would not go in vain.
He said the martyrs of Jammu laid down their lives for a sacred cause and their unparalleled sacrifices could never be forgotten. He stated that in the first week of November 1947, forces of Maharaja Hari Singh, Indian soldiers and Hindutva forces massacred hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris in different areas of Jammu when they were migrating towards Pakistan.
Aamir Siddiqui said the heartbreaking genocide of Jammu Muslims in 1947 was a major tragedy of the world, in which hundreds of thousands of Muslims sacrificed their lives.
He said Kashmir was again facing exploitation and that the Indian military siege had continued for 2,650 days. He added that India was violating human rights in Kashmir.
The PPP leader said the best way to pay tribute to the martyrs was to continue their mission until its objective was achieved. He said the great sacrifices of Kashmiris would surely bear fruit.
Aamir Siddiqui urged the international community to play its role in stopping Indian atrocities against innocent Kashmiris. He said the people of Pakistan would continue their political, social and diplomatic support for Kashmiris, adding that one day Kashmir would become part of Pakistan.
