ISLAMABAD : An individual who participated in a recent auction held by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and purchased Agrofarm Plot No. 37 has gone to the CDA Chairman, Noor ul Amin Mengal, in an effort to seek redress.
The buyer asserts that they were tricked into purchasing a rain drain that was fifty feet deep rather than the genuine plot of land that they had bid on. During the auction that took place this year, the plot received a bid of Rs. 2 crore, but it was later determined to be in a site that was in no way associated with the area that was advertised in the auction brochure.

According to the purchaser, the plot’s location was provided through Google Maps, which was later shown to be erroneous.

The purchaser also says that the land they were given to utilize is surrounded by eight to ten homes that belong to other people, which makes it impractical to use the land for the purpose for which it was intended. According to the petitioner, CDA authorities told him that he would be required to spend an extra Rs. 26 crore in order to buy the canal that the rain drain was a part of.
This would mean that he would lose his initial Rs. 2 crore investment. A brief letter was sent to the buyer rather than a more in-depth probe into the incident, despite the fact that the bidder had sent an email to CDA officials the day after the auction, requesting that the bidding proposal be put on pause.
The person who submitted the petition has asked for an investigation into the matter as well as an instant reimbursement of their money.
The inquiry committee should be at a high level. The purchaser was taken aback by the notion that a public institution could defraud a private citizen out of such a significant sum of money.
Officials from the CDA have not yet responded, so it is unknown what steps they will take to address the petitioner’s concerns. Yet, events of this nature weaken the public’s confidence in the institutions of government and highlight the necessity for increased openness and accountability within government organizations.
