PCCR Hosts Aitchison College Interns on Child Rights

Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, Convenor of the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights (PCCR), recently engaged with a group of student interns from Aitchison College, who are participating in the National Assembly’s internship programme. In an interactive dialogue, the students discussed their experiences, explored legislative challenges in child protection, and learned about parliamentary responsibilities in safeguarding children’s rights.

During the interactive session, the interns shared their observations and insights on parliamentary proceedings, particularly regarding child rights and protection mechanisms. They took the opportunity to raise pertinent questions concerning existing legislation and the continuing legislative efforts aimed at enhancing child safety and welfare.

Addressing the interns, Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan praised their active curiosity and commendable understanding of civic affairs. She highlighted the critical role young people play in social development and encouraged them to maintain their enthusiasm, become proactive advocates for child welfare in their communities, and spread awareness among their peers about children’s rights.
