A two-member Chinese business delegation from Shihshine Universal Mining and SME (Pvt) Company visited the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) to explore investment opportunities and potential joint ventures in Pakistan’s mining and minerals sector. The delegates, Shi Jie and Fang Yang, accompanied by ICCI member Mohammad Yassar, expressed keen interest in establishing collaborative business ventures, emphasizing the broader benefits of employment generation and human resource development for Pakistan.

Welcoming the delegation warmly, ICCI President Nasir Mansoor Qureshi highlighted the favorable investment environment prevailing in the region. He mentioned various sectors that are already thriving, including pharmaceuticals, marble, and steel industries, and pointed out that the mining sector, in particular, offers substantial potential due to its improved infrastructure and the rising demand in both regional and international markets. Qureshi encouraged Chinese entrepreneurs to invest in Pakistan’s mineral resources, stressing that this cooperation would be mutually beneficial for both nations.

Additionally, President Qureshi provided an overview of ICCI’s critical role in advocating policies conducive to business growth and ensuring ease of doing business through consistent dialogue with government authorities. He assured the delegates of ICCI’s complete support in effectively navigating the local regulatory and commercial frameworks necessary for successful cooperation.

In response, the Chinese delegates praised Pakistan’s encouraging business climate, confirming their genuine interest in establishing joint ventures in the mineral sector. Recognizing the potential of these collaborations, they underscored how such ventures would not only generate valuable business opportunities but also contribute significantly to local job creation and skill enhancement.

During the visit, former ICCI President Zahid Maqbool shared valuable insights, highlighting Pakistan’s vast untapped investment potential within the mining industry. His expertise reinforced the opportunity awaiting international investors in this field.

Other ICCI executive members, including Raja Naveed Satti, Waseem Chaudhry, and Mohammad Yassar, also voiced optimistic viewpoints. They expressed eagerness to cooperate closely with Chinese investors, conveying strong confidence that such partnerships would strengthen the historically deep and economically significant ties between Pakistan and China.
