In a recent training workshop organized by the Islamic Students’ Union Punjab, Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab leader, Dr. Tariq Saleem, highlighted the everlasting message of Hazrat Imam Hussain’s (RA) martyrdom at Karbala. He described Imam Hussain’s supreme sacrifice as a milestone in Islamic history that revitalized and immortalized Islam and emphasized that true Islam encourages unwavering sacrifice for the cause of truth.
Addressing participants, Dr. Saleem criticized the Yazidi ideology as an embodiment of tyranny and oppression, destructive to humane values, civilization, and morality. He pointed out that Imam Hussain’s (RA) brave stand clearly conveyed the message that it is not merely enough for rulers to identify as Muslims; they must uphold justice and righteousness. If they deviate, opposing such rulers becomes a moral and religious duty. Dr. Saleem added that the tragedy of Karbala remains a beacon of guidance, particularly for those associated with Jamaat-e-Islami who strive for justice and truth.
The training workshop was also attended and addressed by several distinguished guests, including the Nazim of Islamic Students’ Union Punjab, Ahmed Abdullah, and senior leaders Saifullah Tariq and Raja Naeem Khawar. Speakers underscored the importance of ideological and ethical training for Muslim youth, emphasizing that young Muslims today face significant social, political, and cultural challenges.
Extending his concerns to global developments, Dr. Tariq Saleem cautioned that anti-Islamic forces, spearheaded by the United States, are unified in their attempts to eradicate Muslim values. Criticizing the hypocrisy of U.S. policy, he condemned the American President’s stance, accusing him of backing India’s aggressive actions and participating indirectly in the oppression and bloodshed of innocent Palestinians in Gaza.
Dr. Saleem implored Muslim rulers worldwide to end their silence and indifference, urging them to unite and resist oppression collectively. He asserted strongly that Muslim leaders aligned with foreign interests must rethink their positions and confront tyranny openly. Commending Iran’s leadership for its firm opposition to oppressive powers, he described Iran’s stance as courageous and necessary in facing contemporary threats reminiscent of the historical Yazidi tyranny.
