A high-level agriculture policy roundtable was convened by Aisar’s Self-Reliance Agriculture core team, chaired by former Federal Minister and Secretary Finance Dr. Waqar Masood. The event facilitated substantial discussions on the agricultural sector’s current policies, gaps, challenges, and opportunities, aiming at formulating practical recommendations for sectoral improvement.
The roundtable began with opening remarks from Aisar President, Syed Bilal. He highlighted key areas of focus within the upcoming agricultural budget for 2025-26, addressing critical challenges and potential opportunities for Pakistan’s agriculture sector. Syed Bilal emphasized the session’s goal to engage experts in a comprehensive policy review and directed discussions.
Notably, detailed presentations were delivered by prominent experts, including Dr. Waqar Masood, Dr. Usman Mustafa, and Dr. Islam. They conducted critical analyses on current agricultural policies, highlighting their impact on farmers and agricultural production across the country. They identified policy gaps that require intervention and proposed concrete measures to enhance outcomes and support growth in the agriculture sector.
Participants engaged in thorough discussions, carefully scrutinizing policy shortcomings and formulating practical recommendations aimed at rectifying existing challenges. It was emphasized that carefully designed and implemented reforms are needed to strengthen Pakistan’s agriculture, thereby ensuring overall economic stability and sustainability.
Going forward, additional expert sessions will be held to further refine and strengthen the suggested recommendations. After comprehensive analysis and consensus building, finalized proposals will be submitted to the government for action.
Although this roundtable achieved significant initial outcomes, Aisar remains dedicated to continuously advocating improvement in the agricultural sector. The organization is committed to ongoing dialogues and expert collaboration to drive sustainable agricultural reform and foster meaningful long-term change in Pakistan.
