Islamabad Beautification Plan Progress and Facility Upgrades

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) held a key meeting chaired by Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, to discuss extensive plans for the beautification and infrastructure improvement of Islamabad. Top priorities identified included renovating pedestrian bridges, operationalizing the Blue Area Parking Plaza, enhancing parks and sports facilities, and implementing comprehensive road beautification schemes across the city.

Chaired by Muhammad Ali Randhawa, the strategic session brought together prominent officials such as Member Administration and Estate Talat Mahmood, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, Member Planning Dr. Khalid Hafeez, Director Generals of Works and Electrical & Mechanical, Deputy DG Enforcement, Director DMA, and several other senior officers. The participants collectively reviewed and finalized action steps concerning significant developmental and beautification initiatives aimed at enhancing the capital’s appeal, safety, and livability.

Chairman Randhawa emphasized the urgent need to survey all pedestrian bridges within the capital territory for timely repairs, periodic maintenance, and the installation of aesthetically pleasing decorative lighting. He instructed relevant departments to expedite these measures to enhance public safety, functionality, and visual appeal.

Furthermore, special focus was placed on swiftly completing the Parking Plaza in the Blue Area, enabling improved parking solutions for residents and visitors alike. The CDA Chairman directed authorities to ensure that this key infrastructure project becomes operational at the earliest, addressing parking issues and enhancing commercial activity.

In the domain of recreational development, considerable emphasis was placed on upgrading major parks and public spaces across Islamabad. Parks such as F-9 Park and Lake View Park, as well as numerous smaller parks in various sectors, will receive particular attention with upgraded amenities, modern lighting solutions, attractive walking tracks, play areas, swings, and extensive horticultural improvements. Additionally, the Chairman directed that environmentally friendly trees be planted in public green spaces, aligning city beautification initiatives with environmental sustainability efforts.

The meeting also considered initiatives focused on boosting tourism and entertainment opportunities within the capital city. Plans including feasibility studies for new projects such as cable cars, theme parks, and fun fairs were prioritized, with Chairman Randhawa urging officials to expedite these proposals to enhance Islamabad’s recreational appeal.

Regarding city traffic management and infrastructure, ongoing road works and new underpasses received detailed attention. Chairman Randhawa highlighted the priority given to upgrading key roads, including the Islamabad Expressway, Margalla Road, Club Road, Park Road, and Faisal Avenue. Plans involve resurfacing, lane markings, footpath repairs, refurbishing median strips, and landscaping green belts. Additionally, improvements to city roundabouts and urban forest projects were identified as essential parts of the CDA’s efforts to mitigate air and land pollution.

The meeting reviewed progress on road beautification initiatives as well. Officials confirmed horticulture, landscaping works, and seasonal flower plantations along model highways, complemented by aesthetic wooden signage and modern lighting systems. Chairman Randhawa instructed officers to ensure consistent high-quality standards to further enhance the visual and ecological environment of Islamabad.

Addressing the senior officials, Chairman Randhawa underlined the importance of using all available resources efficiently and effectively. He stated that CDA’s commitment is toward delivering improved residential, transportation, sports, and recreational facilities, thereby upgrading Islamabad’s overall living standards to the highest possible level for the benefit of its citizens.
