Improving Higher Education Quality in Pakistan Through School Reforms

Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC), recently met with prominent educationist Ali Raza, Chairman of the Pakistan Chamber of Education and Member of the National Curriculum Council, to explore strategies aimed at enhancing higher education through improved educational standards at the school level.

During the productive meeting, both leaders emphasized the critical importance of foundational education as a building block for robust higher education systems. They agreed that addressing quality concerns at the school education stage directly impacts students’ preparedness and academic success in universities and beyond.

Dr. Khan underscored that a solid foundation in early education plays a decisive role in determining the effectiveness of higher education institutions. He expressed encouragement at the collaborative efforts being undertaken by education stakeholders to enhance educational quality across all tiers.

Ali Raza reinforced these views, highlighting the necessity of aligning school curricula with modern educational standards and practices. He suggested that school-level reforms and improvements in teaching methodologies can significantly improve the overall performance of students at the tertiary education level.

Both Dr. Khan and Mr. Raza committed to continued dialogue and cooperation between the Punjab Higher Education Commission and the Pakistan Chamber of Education.
