**CDA Reviews Major Development Projects Across Islamabad, Focuses on Urban Upgrades**
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) convened a high-level meeting at its headquarters to review the progress of Islamabad’s key urban development projects, with an emphasis on infrastructure upgrades, beautification efforts, and improvements to public services. The meeting, chaired by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, brought together senior officials from various civic departments to assess ongoing initiatives and set priorities for timely completion.
The agenda included updates on major infrastructure projects such as the Shaheen Chowk and Kashmir Chowk developments, Faizabad Interchange improvements, and the overall uplift of the Pakistan Secretariat. Senior officials present reviewed advancements in the installation of streetlights, enhancement of solid waste management, the establishment of Islamabad Model Jail, and upgrades to local police stations. Prominent projects under discussion also included the creation of new recreational facilities—such as a food street in Blue Area, construction of parking plazas, and the development of a cashless payment system within the CDA.
Speaking at the session, Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa reiterated the authority’s commitment to raising living standards for city residents. He highlighted that comprehensive work is underway on the city’s main road networks, including the construction of new roads and underpasses to ease traffic congestion. The CDA’s ongoing efforts also cover city beautification, especially the enhancement of public parks and sports amenities. Initiatives are also in place to restore 25 football grounds, 25 cricket grounds, establish paddle courts, and upgrade existing pedestrian bridges to improve accessibility and recreation opportunities for the public.
To support these urban upgrades, Chairman Randhawa directed that modern and aesthetically pleasing street lighting be installed on all major roads. A special multi-departmental committee has been established to oversee the inspection, repair, maintenance, lighting installation, landscaping, and horticulture across key corridors, ensuring a comprehensive and coordinated approach. Representatives from departments including Engineering, Environment, Finance, Sanitation, and Islamabad Police are collaborating within this framework to ensure all projects meet quality standards and deadlines.
A specific briefing was presented regarding the Blue Area Parking Plaza, where it was noted that the installation of elevators is now complete. The Chairman instructed that all outstanding electrical, mechanical, and safety work be expedited so the facility can open to the public swiftly.
Chairman Randhawa emphasized that transparency and adherence to high standards remain central to all CDA projects, reinforcing the authority’s goal of developing Islamabad into a modern, efficient, and attractive capital city.
