Punjab’s First Youth Games 2025: Preparations Begin, Focus on Transparency and Merit
Punjab Sports Board has officially begun preparations for the province’s inaugural Youth Games, scheduled to take place in September 2025. The development was announced following a key meeting chaired by Director General Sports Punjab, Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry, with the participation of representatives from various Punjab sports associations.
In the meeting, it was decided that fair and transparent trials will be conducted across all divisions of Punjab to select athletes for the Youth Games. All sports associations have received instructions to hold these trials strictly on merit, ensuring that talented players from across the province get an equal opportunity to participate.
To oversee the selection process, a dedicated selection committee will be formed in each division. These committees will comprise representatives from the Sports Board Punjab, the relevant sports association, a prominent or international athlete, and a member of the Punjab Olympic Association. This multi-stakeholder approach aims to guarantee impartiality in athlete selection.
Furthermore, the selected athletes will undergo a comprehensive training camp in Lahore, set to begin 15 days prior to the commencement of the Youth Games. This initiative is designed to prepare athletes for the event and enhance their performance.
The First Youth Games 2025 are being organized with a commitment to transparency, equal opportunity, and the development of young sporting talent across Punjab.
