**Minister Reviews Progress on New Emergency Unit at PIMS Hospital**
Islamabad’s Federal Minister for Health, Mustafa Kamal, chaired a high-level meeting to review ongoing construction of the new emergency facility at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital. The meeting, attended by Federal Health Secretary Syed Waqar ul Hassan, PIMS Executive Director, and representatives from the Infrastructure Development Executive Program (IDEP), focused on the project’s current status and pressing challenges.
During the session, detailed briefings were provided to Minister Kamal regarding the pace, quality, and timely completion of construction work for the new 200-bed emergency unit. Officials emphasized the critical need to deliver modern, high-quality emergency care to the public, urging that all efforts be made to meet set deadlines for the project.
Minister Kamal instructed authorities to expedite administrative processes, particularly by preparing the required PC-4 documentation, to ensure early operationalization of the emergency facility. He underscored that the new unit, representing an investment of over 6.5 billion rupees, is a priority for the government’s healthcare agenda.
The minister directed all stakeholders to guarantee the completion of all necessary measures so the new emergency department can become functional as planned, reaffirming the commitment to provide timely and world-class emergency services to the citizens.
