**Women Share Inheritance Struggles at Sihala Khuli Kacheri Led by Federal Ombudsperson**

A recent Khuli Kacheri held in Sihala provided a critical platform for women to publicly share their experiences of being denied rightful inheritance and property. Led by Federal Ombudsperson Ms. Fauzia Viqar, with the support of Additional Deputy Commissioner (East) Ms. Mehreen Baloch, the forum drew attention to longstanding injustices faced by women regarding property rights.

During the event, women recounted deeply personal accounts, including instances where they were told they had ‘no right’ to inherit their father’s land or were forcefully evicted from their late parents’ homes by relatives. These stories highlighted the social pressures and legal obstacles that have silenced women for generations and continue to hinder their claims to lawful inheritance.

To support those affected, legal teams were present, offering immediate guidance and outlining practical steps for women to begin reclaiming their rights. The initiative stressed the importance of dignity, equal access to justice, and persistent advocacy for women who have been discouraged from seeking what is legally theirs.

The Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat for Protection Against Harassment (FOSPAH) reaffirmed its commitment to standing by women in their pursuit of justice, ensuring that inheritance disputes are addressed and property rights upheld. The Khuli Kacheri exemplified ongoing efforts to empower women, promote economic independence, and ensure access to justice and equity for all.
