**Minister Grants Approval for Improved IIUI Access at I-10 Railway Crossing**

A delegation from the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has secured approval for direct access at the I-10 railway crossing, following a productive meeting with Minister for Railways, Hanif Abbasi. This decision is set to ease longstanding transportation challenges faced by the university community, particularly the Female Campus, by reducing commute times and operational costs.

The IIUI representatives, including Dr. Amna Mehmood (In-Charge, Female Campus), Dr. Asma Mansoor (In-Charge, Protocol and Public Relations), and Mr. Hassan Shabbir (Assistant Director, Administration and Finance), met with Minister Abbasi to address the closure of the railway crossing near Sector I-10. The delegation highlighted that the restricted access had forced university transport to make lengthy detours, resulting in increased fuel expenses, longer travel times, and added strain on students and staff.

During the meeting, the team underscored the disproportionate impact of the closure on female students, the majority of whom depend on university transportation from surrounding sectors. They emphasized that restoring direct access is not only essential for operational efficiency but also aligns with IIUI’s mission of advancing educational opportunities for women.

Minister Abbasi commended IIUI’s contributions to education and women’s empowerment, acknowledging the university’s significant female enrollment. Recognizing the urgency of the issue, he directed that IIUI be facilitated with access provisions similar to those granted to NESCOM, and expressed his commitment to continued collaboration with the university.

This development, driven by efforts from the IIUI Rector’s office, reflects the university’s dedication to improving infrastructure and accessibility for its community. Minister Abbasi also conveyed his best wishes to IIUI leadership and reaffirmed the Ministry’s readiness to support initiatives that promote educational development.
