Punjab Health Advisor Major General (R) Dr. Azhar Mehmood Kayani paid a surprise visit to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Samanabad, where he inspected all wards, including the emergency department, and interacted directly with patients to assess the quality of healthcare services.
During his visit, Dr. Kayani inquired about the facilities provided to patients and actively listened to their feedback and complaints. He took particular notice of reports that some doctors were instructing patients to purchase medicines from outside the hospital. In response, he demanded explanations from the hospital’s Medical Superintendent (MS) and the concerned doctors, and directed that patients should be reimbursed for any out-of-pocket expenses incurred on medicines.
Dr. Kayani also visited the hospital’s physiotherapy unit, where he commended the performance of the doctors and staff. Emphasizing the importance of transparency and high standards in healthcare delivery, he instructed the hospital administration to ensure that patients receive the best possible care and that service quality is maintained.
The health advisor reiterated his commitment to improving the quality and standards of public hospitals, underscoring the necessity of continuous monitoring and transparency in the healthcare system.
