**NISE Launches First Training Workshop for Special Education Support Staff**
The National Institute of Special Education (NISE), operating under the Directorate General of Special Education (DGSE), has launched its first training session of the 2025–26 academic year, focusing on equipping support staff from special education centres with practical skills and enhanced understanding of their roles.
The two-day workshop, titled “From Accessibility to Empathy: Building Skills of Supporting Staff,” was organized on the directive of DG Special Education, Captain Asif Iqbal Asif. It brought together 32 drivers, attendants, and ayas from various DGSE institutions for a series of interactive sessions held at NISE.
Key training topics included understanding various disabilities, basic first aid, safe transport practices, and inclusive support techniques tailored to the needs of special education environments. Led by experienced trainers from NISE and partner organizations, the sessions featured live demonstrations and practical scenarios to ensure hands-on learning for all participants.
To ensure accessibility and enhance understanding, Urdu-language handouts were distributed, enabling all attendees to benefit fully from the materials presented. Participants engaged actively in the workshop, sharing their reflections and insights at the conclusion of the event. Many highlighted the immediate relevance of the skills learned and expressed their commitment to integrating them into their daily responsibilities to better serve students with special needs.
With this training, NISE aims to strengthen the capacity of its support staff, promoting a more inclusive, safe, and empathetic environment across special education centres nationwide.
