The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) has launched an eco-restoration initiative in fire-affected areas of Saidpur within the Margalla Hills National Park (MHNP). The campaign featured a seedball activity, engaging students from multiple schools to help restore native plant species and promote a greener environment.
During the activity, participants crafted and dispersed seedballs—small clusters of seeds designed to facilitate natural regeneration and support biodiversity. This method is particularly effective for rehabilitating land impacted by wildfires and environmental degradation, as it helps ensure seeds are protected and can germinate under suitable conditions.
The IWMB emphasized the importance of reintroducing indigenous plant varieties to maintain ecological balance in the Margalla Hills region. By involving young students, the organization aims to foster environmental stewardship and raise awareness about the significance of conservation efforts.
The initiative reflects the IWMB’s ongoing commitment to protecting Margalla Hills National Park and restoring areas damaged by recent fires. Officials hope that these efforts will contribute to the long-term health of the ecosystem and inspire communities to take an active role in environmental preservation.
