Over 48,000 aspiring cricketers participated in talent hunt trials across Sindh, held under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) and organized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in collaboration with Lahore Qalandars. The initiative, part of the Talent Hunt Youth Sports League, aims to identify and nurture young cricketing talent across Pakistan by providing them with a fair and structured platform to showcase their skills.

The large-scale trials took place at five major locations in Sindh—Karachi, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Larkana, and Sukkur—reflecting the enthusiasm and potential of the province’s youth for cricket. The overwhelming response underscores the deep-rooted passion for the sport in Sindh and highlights a growing appetite among young players for professional development opportunities.

With trials in Sindh now complete, the focus has shifted to Punjab, where the cricket talent hunt is commencing in Bahawalpur and will continue across key cities including Multan, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Jhelum. This phase marks the next step in the countrywide initiative to foster grassroots sports development and ensure equal opportunities for youth from diverse regions.

Supported professionally by the Lahore Qalandars and institutionally by HEC and PMYP, the talent hunt represents a significant government effort to revive cricket at the grassroots level. The programme is expected to promote sportsmanship, inclusivity, and discipline among Pakistani youth, potentially setting new benchmarks for sports talent identification and development nationwide.
