**Sardar Shazib Shabbir Khan Elected President of Sudhan Educational Conference, Marking a New Era for the Historic Organization**
Prominent business leader and youth advocate Sardar Shazib Shabbir Khan has been unanimously elected president of the Sudhan Educational Conference (SEC), one of South Asia’s oldest and most influential social and educational organizations. His appointment is being hailed by leaders across the region as a step forward for both the organization and the community, given his background in business, social services, and youth leadership.
Sardar Shazib Shabbir Khan, an accomplished professional with business and history degrees from the United States, brings a wealth of experience to the role. Having managed significant business operations in the US, Pakistan, and Azad Kashmir, he is known for his sincerity, tolerance, and commitment to community development. He also represents a notable business family whose enterprises span multiple regions, further strengthening his credentials for guiding the SEC into its new chapter.
Established ninety-one years ago during the Dogra regime, the Sudhan Educational Conference was initially formed to address social injustices, promote unity, and improve educational standards among the region’s tribes. Spearheaded by Colonel Khan Muhammad Khan, a pioneer of modern Poonch, the organization emerged at a time when many communities hesitated to resist the prevailing oppression. The Sudhan tribe, with key support from leaders such as Sardar Akram Abbasi, Sardar Muhammad Ayub Khan, and Syed Hassan Shah Gardezi, lent their name to the organization, which quickly became a rallying point for social and educational reform.
The SEC’s foundational goals included eliminating social ills and non-Islamic customs, fostering societal reform, promoting religious education, and encouraging higher learning. Initiatives like scholarships for underprivileged students and the launch of Darul Uloom Taleem-ul-Quran Palandri underscored its commitment to progress. Over the years, the organization has financially supported thousands of students from all backgrounds—among them distinguished personalities such as Ghazi Millat Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan and Chief Justice Sardar Sharif Khan—thereby shaping the region’s leadership and professional landscape. This year alone, seventy-six students were awarded scholarships for higher education.
Sardar Shazib Shabbir Khan assumes his new role as only the third public figure, outside the traditional cadre of retired military officers and bureaucrats, to lead the organization—following in the footsteps of Sardar Mukhtar Khan Advocate and Dr. Sardar Muhammad Kaleem Khan. His election signals a significant shift, promising fresh perspectives and renewed vigor to SEC’s legacy of discipline and management, typified by previous leaders such as Col. Noor Hussain, Col. Kamal Khan, and others.
Integral to the current success and continued growth of the SEC are dedicated individuals like Secretary General Dr. Ghulam Hussain Khan, who has meticulously organized the organization’s records and ensured operational transparency. His efforts in registering the SEC with the Social Welfare Department and streamlining administrative processes are widely recognized.
As Sardar Shazib Shabbir Khan steps into this position of responsibility and honor, expectations are high that his leadership will further elevate the organization’s impact, expand educational opportunities, and continue the SEC’s mission of fostering unity and progress across Azad Kashmir and beyond.
