**NCSW Urges Action on Rising Violence Against Women in Balochistan**

The National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) has voiced serious concern over a growing number of violence cases against women in Balochistan, particularly honour killings, and has urged authorities to ensure justice and accountability for the perpetrators.

During a meeting at the Governor House in Quetta, NCSW member Ms. Naureen Lehri conveyed the Commission’s strong position to Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, stressing that so-called honour killings are breaches of both human rights and legal statutes. She underscored that such acts must be prosecuted without exception, stating, “There is no honour in killing — murder in the name of honour is a violation of human rights and law, and must be prosecuted without exception.”

In response, Governor Mandokhail expressed support for the NCSW’s mission, emphasizing the need for joint efforts to safeguard and empower women, particularly those in rural and marginalized communities. He highlighted the importance of expanding awareness campaigns, increasing access to legal aid, and strengthening institutional support for women facing violence and discrimination.

The discussion also focused on strategies to enhance the NCSW’s outreach in Balochistan and to build stronger partnerships with provincial institutions to promote gender justice. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to end gender-based violence and advance women’s rights across the province.
