Most employees remain unaware of the rights and safeguards offered by the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act 2010, prompting the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to organize an informative session on the subject. The event aimed to clarify the key features of the law, the procedures for filing complaints, and the legal obligations of organizations under this legislation.

Led by Mr. Waqar Ahmed and Ms. Ayesha Zeb Khan, the session offered a comprehensive breakdown of the 2010 Act. Participants were briefed on what actions the law classifies as harassment in the workplace and the specific protections it affords female employees. The session also detailed the step-by-step process for lodging a formal complaint, emphasizing the importance of timely reporting and the support mechanisms available to victims.

Furthermore, the organizers highlighted the responsibilities that all workplaces must uphold to comply with the law. These include the establishment of a compliant-based mechanism, awareness training for staff, and regular monitoring to ensure a harassment-free work environment.

The event was attended by both in-person and remote participants, reflecting PTA’s commitment to accessibility and employee education. By increasing awareness of the Act and its provisions, the PTA seeks to foster a safer and more equitable workplace for women across the organization.
