Ambassador Jemal Emphasizes Institutionalizing Ethiopia Pakistan Relations

Ethiopia and Pakistan are taking steps to strengthen and formalize their bilateral relationship, with a particular focus on increasing cooperation in economic, educational, and health sectors. Discussions were held in Islamabad between Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Ethiopia’s Ambassador and Special Envoy, and Dr. Kazim Niaz, Pakistan’s Federal Secretary for Economic Affairs, to lay the groundwork for closer partnership between the two countries.

During the meeting, Ambassador Dr. Jemal emphasized the importance of institutionalizing the relationship, highlighting recent progress in areas such as trade, investment, aviation, tourism, and cultural exchange. He provided an update on the upcoming Pakistan-Africa Trade Development Conference and Single Country Exhibition, which will be hosted in Addis Ababa in 2025. The Ambassador described Addis Ababa as a key diplomatic center, regularly hosting major international events that support multilateral collaboration.

Dr. Kazim Niaz recognized the value of building a more structured framework for bilateral cooperation. He praised Ethiopia’s recent economic development under Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali and expressed Pakistan’s commitment to further enhancing ties with Ethiopia, pledging full support for future joint initiatives. The officials agreed to continue their efforts to formalize and deepen relations across multiple sectors for mutual benefit.
